GERAKAN CERDAS MENGONSUMSI JAMU: EDUKASI PENGGUNAAN HERBAL AMAN DAN RASIONAL PADA MASYARAKAT

The use of traditional herbal medicine (jamu) remains an integral part of Indonesian society in maintaining health and treating minor illnesses. However, the consumption of herbal remedies without adequate knowledge regarding safety, dosage, hygiene, and product legality may pose health risks. This community service activity aimed to improve public knowledge and awareness about the safe, rational, and proper consumption of jamu through a health education program entitled “Smart Consumption of Jamu for a Healthy Life.” The activity was conducted in RT 04 RW 03, Taman Krajan Hamlet, Tamansari Village, Wonorejo District, Pasuruan Regency, on February 5, 2026, involving local community members as participants. The methods used included preliminary observation, problem identification, health counseling through interactive lectures, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and educational media in the form of leaflets and posters. The results showed that participants demonstrated high enthusiasm throughout the educational sessions. In addition, there was an increase in community understanding regarding the importance of consuming jamu safely, maintaining hygiene during the preparation process, following proper usage guidelines, and selecting herbal products that have official authorization from the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM). Participants also became more aware of the potential risks associated with improper herbal consumption and the importance of consulting healthcare professionals when using herbal remedies together with medical drugs. This activity is expected to encourage the community to consume traditional herbal medicine more wisely, safely, and responsibly while preserving the cultural value of herbal practices in accordance with modern health principles.
