HEALTH EDUCATION ON THE IMPACT OF JUNK FOOD CONSUMPTION ON THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE OF ADOLESCENT GIRLS

Menstruation is the periodic discharge of blood and mucous membranes from the lining of the uterus through the vagina. Menstrual disorders in Indonesia reach 15.25% of adolescent girls aged 10-19 years, while in East Java it reaches 13.3%. One cause of menstrual cycle disorders is an unhealthy diet. Frequently consuming junk food is an unhealthy habit. WHO data from 2020 shows that 80% of adolescents frequently eat junk food. At SMK Ar-Rahma Gempol Pasuruan, 51 (86.4%) female students admitted to experiencing menstrual cycle disorders, and 8 (13.6%) other students admitted to never experiencing them. In addition, 42 (71.2%) female students admitted to consuming junk food more than 3 times a week, and 17 (28.8%) other students admitted to rarely consuming junk food. In this activity, health education was conducted for SMK Ar-Rahma Gempol female students about the impact of junk food on the menstrual cycle.
